The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, has warned skit makers against portraying the force in bad light.

Baba, in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on Sunday, also addressed skit and film makers to obtain permission from the PPRO before using police uniforms to act.

The statement read,”Film or Skit Makers who portray the Nigeria Police Force officers in bad light, without applying for, and being fully issued a permit letter for such portrayals, are warned to desist from such and act with immediate effect or face the full wrath of the law.”

He also directed commands and formations to arrest and prosecute anyone involved in the illegal sale of police uniforms.

“The IGP therefore, charged all commands and formations, the IGP monitoring unit, Provost Marshals and X-Squad, to arrest and immediately prosecute, in accordance with the law, all persons or group of persons engaging in the illegal sale of pice uniforms and accoutrements within their jurisdictions,” he added.

This, the IGP believes would help promote the Force in the eyes of the public and encourage officers to work effectively.
