Buhari In Court Over Theft

An 86-year-old man, Buhari Musa has been arraigned by the police before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing maize.

The octogenarian was alleged to have stolen  N10,000 worth of maize. But he pleaded not guilty to the charge.

But the police prosecutor, Johnson Okunade, an Inspector maintained  that Buhari stole the maize from the farm of Saliu Mustapha on June 13 at 7.00 a.m. at Omisanjana area of Ado-Ekiti.

According to him, the defendant was caught at the farm where he stole the maize

He said  the alleged offence contravened Section 390(9) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2012.

Counsel to the defendant, Mr Lai Obisesan prayed  the court to grant his client bail.  In his ruling, the Chief Magistrate, Adedayo Oyebanji, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N20,000 with one surety in like sum.

He adjourned the case till July 8 for mention.
