The Nigerian Army says it is still investigating the reported death of the leader of Boko Haram, Abubakar Shekau.
AFP reports that when it contacted Nigeria’s army spokesman, Mohammed Yerima, he neither denied nor confirmed the reported death of Shekau.
“We are investigating,” was all AFP said it got from the army spokesman.

A report had said Nigerian Shekau was seriously wounded after trying to kill himself to avoid capture during clashes with rival Islamic State-allied jihadists, ISWAP.
But another report had actually said the Boko Haram leaders blew himself up and died alongside ISWAP fighters who were having a meeting with him with a view to getting him to surrender.
