Lagos LG Elections: Ejigbo Indigenes Adopt Ajayi As Consensus Candidate

Indigenes of Ejigbo Local Council Development Area (ELCDA) in the All Progressives Congress (APC), Lagos, under the umbrella of Ejigbo Aworis Development Union (EADU) have adopted Hon. Peter Ajayi as their consensus candidate for the forthcoming local government elections.

The Indigenes, in a statement issued by the Union’s President, Chief Rabiu Edagbeja, on Wednesday in Ejigbo, Lagos, said it was necessary for them to throw their weight behind Ajayi because of his pedigree and refined integrity which were hardly found in politicians.

Edagbeja said that it was time for the indigenes in APC to pitch their tent with an aspirant who would sincerely champion the rapid development of the local government than those who had personalized local government administration for self-aggrandizement.

He stated that the indigenes cannot be deceived again like in the past by power-brokers in the council area who believe they can use divide and rule tactics for them by imposing the incumbent Chairman on them.

“We cannot be cajoled and deceived by those who think the local government is their personal property. Today, we, the indigenes are adopting Peter Ajayi as our consensus candidate for Ejigbo LCDA Chairmanship.

” In 2017, some power hungry elements in the council persuaded, cajoled and deceived us into buy the candidacy of the incumbent being an Awori but we later discovered that he was there to serve and protect the interest of the hungry elements who does not have the interest of Ejigbo town at heart at all.

” Although, we are not surprised that he did not perform because his candidacy did not emanate from the real indigenes. If you drive round Ejigbo, you will hardly see any sign of development since 2017 despite the huge revenue coming into the government purse. The monthly allocation and VAT are personalized and shared like National cake instead to be used for developmental projects so as to stimulate Ejigbo economy. But this time around, we are strongly behind and endorsing Peter Ajayi who we know, tested and trusted based on his past antecedents.

” Hon. Peter Ajayi helped our local government to increase its revenue when he served as Supervisor for Revenue Generation during Kehinde Bamigbetan administration. This, Bamigbetan can testify. There was serious improvement in the revenue purse of our local government and more money for developmental projects. This happened despite being not an indigene of Ejigbo. It shows that if this kind of person his our Council Chairman, invariably, our council will compete favourable with FCT Abuja in terms of development, revenue, investments and economy”.

Edagbeja added that the indigenes have commenced aggressive mobilisation and community sensitisation on Ajayi’s aspiration, assuring the party leadership of total support on election day.
