The Supreme Court has upheld the decision of the Court of Appeal which affirmed the deregistration of 74 political parties by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
INEC deregistered the parties in 2020 for failing to win any election in 2019.

In the judgement, delivered by Justice China Nweze, the Supreme Court said the deregistration of the parties complied with was the laws and the extant provisions of the Constitution and Electoral Act.
