FG Extends NIN-SIM Linkage Exercise

The Federal Government has announced the extension of  deadline for Nigerians to link their National Identification Numbers, NINs, to their SIM cards to June 30.

This was confirmed in a press statement jointly signed by the spokespersons of the Nigerian Communications Commission and the National Identity Management Commission, Ikechukwu Adinde and Kayode Adegoke on Tuesday.

According to the  statement  the extension was announced by the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, at a virtual meeting, and it was to make it easier for its citizens and residents to obtain the National Identity Number (NIN).

The statement said postponement of the deadline was also  a grant of request by stakeholders for an extension till June 30 in order to make it easier for all citizens and legal residents to register.
