Gunmen have on Monday morning attacked the prison at Owerri, Imo State, and freed at least 1500 inmates.
The gunmen also invaded the Imo State Police Command headquarters situated in Owerri. They set it on fire and further burnt almost all the vehicles within the compoud.

The attackers went ahead to release many suspects the cells at the Imo State Criminal Investigation Department of the command.
The gunmen were said to have operated unchecked between 1am till 3am on Monday.
