Herdsmen Invade Ebonyi Communities, Kill 18, Burn Vehicles, Loot Properties

Suspected herdsmen invaded Egedegede, Obegu and Amuzu communities in the Ishielu Area of Ebonyi killing people and vandalising possessions.

It was learned that the invaders killed between 10 and 18 people. They were also said to have burnt houses and looted houses.

According to The PUNCH, a resident who narrated the ordeal the people passed through, said: “We are mourning, we are in serious mourning since late Monday. Herdsmen invaded our communities and massacred our people. As we speak, 18 persons were slaughtered like animals. They matcheted many of our people, burnt vehicles, motorcycles and looted our properties.”

Among those who were reportedly killed said was a Methodist Church priest whose car was also set ablaze.

Chairman of Ishielu local Government Area, Sunday Eze; and the Commissioner for Business Development in the state, Stephen Odo, who hail from the local government, led a team of security agents to the communities and condoled the families of those killed in the invasion, on Tuesday.

The police, it was learnt, had commenced the investigation of the attack.
