The Lagos State Fire & Rescue Service has salvaged a 45, 000-litre diesel tanker opposite the Otedola Estate main gate from being razed by an inferno that destroyed six other vehicles.
The Acting Controller, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Mrs. Margaret Adeseye, made this known when briefing journalists on the incident after the firefighters prevented the tanker from being burnt.
Adeseye said the Agency received a Fire alert on Saturday at about 0215 hours from the Otedola Bridge, Ojodu Local Council Development Area in Lagos, that some vehicles were in flames and “action was immediately taken with the deployment of two Fire Engines and crew members to combat the situation”.

The Fire boss further explained that on arrival at the scene, it was discovered that the fire had already affected two 45000-litre tankers conveying Diesel, two flatbed trailers with one carrying a 40ft container, one Mazda car and one container truck.

She disclosed that the firefighting operations started immediately to curtail the inferno from causing more damage, thereby preventing one 45000 litres tanker from being completely burnt.
While saying that the cause of the fire was still unknown as investigation was ongoing, the Acting Head of the Fire Agency confirmed that no life was lost in the incident, just as she informed that all hands are on deck to restore normalcy to the axis with assistance form LASEMA and other emergency responders. The fire and rescue operations lasted throughout the night.
