A Lagos State Special Offences Court, Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo has sentenced a 500-level student of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, Oyo State, Adebowale Abiola, to one-year imprisonment for $104,500 fraud.
Abiola was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission which learned that Internet fraudsters were operating somewhere in Lekki, Lagos.

The convict was said to have defrauded defrauded one Courtney Kaye.
Abiola who was arraigned on an amended one count bordering on possession of fraudulent documents containing false pretence, pleaded guilty.
EFCC counsel, I. A. Mohammed, informed the court that Abiola had entered into a plea bargain with the anti-graft agency.
Justice Taiwo in her judgement, however gave him an option of N300,000 fine while ordering that the N5m recovered from him be given to the victim.
She ordered a forfeiture to the Federal Government a black Mercedes Benz GLK, recovered from the convict.
