Niger Gets COVID-19 Vaccine From China

Unlike its West African neighbour, Nigeria which depends on the AstraZeneca vaccine from the United Kingdom, Niger Republic gets its COVID-19 vaccine, Sinopharm from China.

According to the country’s health ministry, 400,000 doses of the vaccine arrived at the Niamey Airport.

The cargo plane which conveyed the vaccine also came with 300,000 antigen tests, masks and protective equipment.

The country which said it would begin administering the vaccine on March 27, also said its priority would be the political leaders healthcare personnel, the military and security forces and people aged over 60.
